The way we think is always a process derived from our history to the extent that everything that happens to us becomes a part of our history and that subsequently shapes our views and thoughts of the future. This is no less true of a nation than it is of an individual or for that matter a continent. So today's Africa is shaped by the whole of the past no less than any other part of the world. For many years, certainly through the colonial era, it was considered that African was too immature and primitive to contribute to serious thought on any subject but particularly theological and philosophical thought. Today there are many in this world who would still try to discount the intellectual and spiritual development of Africa. As I started to visit places concerning Cana Publishers one notable person told me that 'Africa had nothing to offer, the people who have escaped that savage place would rather forget it existed than read about it.' Such thought is a bigoted as the early colonial thought that the African was to primitive to have anything but the most menial involvement in their countries economy. The truth is that Africa has come of age. The intellectual thinking of Africa must start to be recognised and set alongside the other great thinkers of the world. The Anglican church world wide must take notice of the African Churches view concerning the present debate on homosexual priests. This debate is even more central than that of female ordination. Africa has a lot to offer and is now in print to make its thought known. What do you think about this one? In 1998 there was a terrorist attack on the United Sates Embassy in Nairobi and Daressalam In 2002 there was bombing in Mombasa's North shore of a tourist hotel. In 2003 there was a threat to a British Airways plane. In 2003 British Airways suspended all flights to Kenya and the British government warned their nationals not to have an nonessential travel to Kenya, this with devastating effects on the Kenyan economy. Now compare this with The many bombings in the United Sates over many years The destruction of the World Trade Centre The many Terrorist alerts effecting ordinary citizens in the United States In December/ January 2003-2004 security was so tedious that Air France suspended many flights. British Airways suspended a few flights but generally bend over backwards to ensure that they kept flying. When the United Sates suggested flying sky marshals they accepted but no one at any time with drew their services from the united states because of the security risk. Nor did they declare the United Sates to be an unsafe place to travel as they had done to Kenya. I wonder why the two countries should have been treated so very differently? Do write and let us know your thoughts on these matters.
